Great White Shark Caging Ecoventures - Dyer Island Boat Cruises
White Shark diving in South Africa has become an incredibly popular sport for tourists visiting the Aghulhas area. Grootbos is in close proximity to take Dyer Island boat cruises to engage in White Shark caging eco adventures.
Dyer Island was named after Samson Dyer who lived on the island and sold Guano (bird droppings) as a fertiliser in the 19th Century. Today, the island is host to Cape Cormorants and Gannets and is a breeding site for the African Penguin. Geyser Rock, a smaller island adjacent to Dyer Island is where the Cape Fur Seals breed and home to 50000 seals. Whales and Dolphins are also present in season. Grootbos is involved in support of the Dyer Island Conservation Trust which finds donors for the Island’s “Faces of Needs” project. The project builds artificial nests for the African Penguins, who’s survival has been threatened.
Due to the large amount of prey available close to the island, the perfect location for white shark diving in South Africa and Great White Shark caging ecoventures is Dyer Island via boat cruises. The boat cruises allow visitors to get as close as possible to the beautiful creatures who are so misunderstood. Watch from below the depths of the sea, protected by a metal cage as Great White Sharks swim past in all their power and strength.
