Our dear friend and colleague for many years at Grootbos, Brummer Olivier, passed away tragically in a helicopter accident on the 22 September. Brummer will always be remembered for his incredible passion for life, his enormous loving smile, the sincere friendships he nurtured over the years and his deep love for all things natural. Brummer was the very first guide at Grootbos Nature Reserve where he inspired thousands of visitors through his passion for nature, opening their eyes to the wonders of our mountains and coastline. His strength was not only in his broad knowledge but the passion and enthusiasm with which he transferred this to others. Always one for an adventure, Brummer’s many expeditions to remote, far-flung places, inspired and enthralled us. He will always be remembered in the song of the birds, the rustle of the leaves, the crashing of the waves and call of the Fish Eagle. Rest in peace, friend.
