We’re very excited to extend a warm welcome to our new interns!
They all arrived last week and after a few days of some rest they jumped right in on Monday and are getting acquainted with all the awesome people and projects here
Phillip Gibson (Communications and Public Relations) graduated in December from the University of San Francisco with a degree in International Studies. Phillip comes with quite a bit of experience in the non-profit world. In the past few years he has worked with organizations in Uganda, Rwanda, California and Colorado and deeply enjoys letting others in on the good work that happens at organizations like the Grootbos Foundation. He is eager to keep you all informed and up-to-date on all the on-going and up-coming projects we have here!
Justine Herridge (Research and Impact) originally hails from the outskirts of North London. She comes with a great variety of experience to offer, including years worth of teaching in China and a summer of research in Tajikistan on sports relation to national identity. Justine is passionate about using thorough qualitative and quantitative research to help us refine our programs in ways that are most beneficial for our community.
Mary Alexander-Scholz (Senior Intern) spent the first third of her life growing up in England and the last two-thirds in Hamburg, Germany where she has acquired over thirty years of experience in global financial services filling positions of acquisition and senior management. In the latter part of her career she was responsible as the COO for integrating the operations all across Europe. In her first few days after arrival she has already latched onto our Female Empowerment Program and is excited to offer her services to see to its success. We’re equally excited to see what we can learn from her.
Michelle Dzurenda (Coach Management) is currently receiving her Masters in Physical Education and Coaching from Boston University, and will be finishing up her degree in May. Michelle has been engaged in the world of sport her whole life and is incaptivated by it’s ability to bring hope to individuals and communities. She’s very excited to see this idea come to fruition through all of our coaches and athletes.
We are so thankful for the work and dedication these interns have already shown and can’t wait to see what is in store for the months ahead!
