Profile of a young entrepreneur: Mkhansi Cekiso

Sxolies Aerobics Club owned by Mkhanyisi Cekiso stands for ‘A healthy body is a healthy mind’ and was started in September 2015 in the community of Zwelihle outside Hermanus. MK grew up in a community and family passionate about sport and he was not exception. Sport became his passion. He formalised this passion by doing a course in Sports Coaching and Administration and went on to further his studies through Boston College in Sports Administration. He qualified as an aerobics instructor through Trifocus Fitness Academy and joined the Grootbos Foundation’s entrepreneurship programme to take his passion to the next level and form his own fitness and wellness company. Thanks to the Swiss Re Foundation who currently funds the programme MK received key items to his start up – fitness steps, yoga mats and marketing banners.

MIK believes sport and aerobics is a great medium to bring different people and communities together. He believes in the positive potential sport holds to mobilise individuals and communities and channel their energy in a healthy and happy way. MK takes it one step further and believes that including sport into the fabric of a community has the potential to address social issues and crime in communities

MK hosts aerobics classes in Zwelihle and Mount Pleasant on a weekly basis and hosts community aerobics marathon events in and around the Overberg. There is no stopping this passionate entrepreneur with his go getter personality and vision for fitness in the community.
