On the 8th March the girls of The Football Foundation came together to celebrate International Women’s Day! A day that celebrates female equality, female success and of course, the empowerment of woman! The day stands for a reflection of the progress made by women across the world, to call for change and to celebrate acts of determination by ordinary women who played extraordinary roles in their own countries ad communities!
We celebrated with some girl time watching some inspiring films, cupcakes. It was a time to give back to the girls of our sports programmes who work had at making a difference to their own lives and the lives around them. It was not just the laughter, fun and cake that made the day special but watching the realisation dawn on the girls of what they represent and mean to their communities. The realisation that whilst they have women role models, they are themselves role models and bring hope to their communities.
The Foundation provides a safe place for the girls to play sport, socialise and learn valuable life lessons that they can take away and use throughout their lives. The rest is up to them! Go Girls!
