Towards the end of last year, the Foundation established a research team under our Conservation Director, Sean Privett. The team of guides meet once a week and present updates on their various research projects or give a more thorough presentation on a specific discipline.
The team is made up of Joanita who focuses on Herpatology, Jono, who is focusing on GIS Mapping, Sarah who assists our environmental manager, Brett with our sustainability recordings and progress, Tiaan who is managing all the various camera trap material, Christoff who has been updating our vegetation survey and Ross who is focusing on the study of snakes and Entomology.
This diverse team of nature scientists are all working to explore all the flora and fauna there is to find on the Immediate Grootbos Reserve and further afield throughout the Walker Bay Conservancy. There have been some interesting finds of the endangered Western Leopard Toad and a number of Cape Leopard roaming the conservancy, to name but a few.
