Gansbaai United Take on Santos U/15

Gansbaai vs. Santos match - 1 October 2009, Cape Town

After extensive and dedicated training during the month of September, including an action-packed holiday programme, the Gansbaai u/15 boys’ soccer team was ready to challenge the formidable Santos u/15 team in Cape Town. 18 boys traveled to Cape Town along with their Football Foundation coaches to challenge the Junior side of the “The People’s Team” - Santos 1st Division is currently ranked 5th in PSL fixtures. At first the Gansbaai boys were a little nervous to play the experienced team from Cape Town, but in the second half the put up a strong fight and only conceded one goal. Our boys lost 3-0, but they learnt an immense amount and thoroughly enjoyed the game - the experience was amazing! They even got to watch the Santos u/17’s train which was a bonus.

Afterwards the boys visited the Aquarium and the Waterfront for the first time, where they saw 3m ragged tooth sharks, a giant stingray, miniature seahorses and little Nemo fish! They enjoyed every minute! Outside the beautiful sunny day was calling and it was time to play beach soccer at Camps Bay. It was a fun day packed full of excitement and adventure; a day the boys are bound to remember for a long time! A great thanks to the coaches for their support, but also to the boys for their superb behaviour!
