Holiday Sports Program at Gansbaai Community Sports Centre

September 2009 Holiday Programme - Gansbaai Communal Sports Centre

When you add together a) children on holiday, b) sunny weather & c) various sports, art & activities: it inevitably amounts to FUN FUN FUN! That is exactly what everyone experienced during the Football Foundation’s September holiday programme hosted together with Gansbaai Council Sports.

Every morning boys and girls fuelled up with porridge to get them ready for a day filled with excitement and competition. With the enthusiastic help the coaches and volunteers, the children from Masakhane, Blompark & Gansbaai were able to take part in events ranging from fun activities like the jumping castle, ‘Boeresport’ and art, to sports like mini cricket, soccer, rugby, tennis, volleyball and hockey.

Wednesday started off with the children divided into teams ready to participate in a Boeresport competition. It was just the place to be if you wanted to experience a rugby field full of beaming faces, supporting & encouraging each other with great teamwork. The winner of the day was determined by a Tug-of-War challenge between the two top teams and in the end Danver’s team “The Crusaders” were crowned. The teams received lovely prizes donated by sponsors and individuals - with special mention to Rhino Africa.

To those who missed out: get ready for the December Holiday programme!
