Yuvraj Singh Foundation Raises R200000 for Cricket Development in Gansbaai

In a star-studded glamour evening, the Yuvraj Singh Foundation raised over R200 000 for a new cricket development program to be run by the Grootbos Foundation in Gansbaai.

The Grootbos Foundation already boasts the very successful Football Foundation of South Africa which runs football leagues, training and education for up to 100 youngsters through the Spaces for Sports project at the Gansbaai Community Sports Centre every afternoon. The Centre is the brainchild of Grootbos Foundation director Michael Lutzeyer, and is situated between the three cultural communities in Gansbaai. Its purpose is to use sports to break down cultural barriers and encourage social interaction and sports development of our talented youth.

The evening was hosted by the lovely Mandira Bedi and laughs were provided by famous comedian Vikram Sathaye. Amongst the other guests were international cricketers such as Shane Warne, Albie Morkel, Kumar Sangakara and Brett Lee, as well as Bollywood star Preity Zinta, Consul General of India Harsh Vardhan Shringla and the Deputy High Commissioner of India Vikas Swarup.
